Why you should always respect other people’s time?

"We respect other people's time, when we learn to value it as much as our own."
Dr. Forni

I guess you know what I am talking about, because we all do it from time to time, we all disrespect other people’s time, and we all have our time disrespected sometimes. But this is bad. Honestly, just don’t do it. Time is the most precious resource we have…you can’t save it for later, you can’t give it, you can’t pause it. Time is now and this is when it is valuable.

So, if a person at some point agreed to to offer his/her time, be respectful! It is the most expensive thing he/she has and, just think about it, he/she decided to spend it on you. Whoever you are, I am telling you: you are lucky! So, please, pay this favor back by showing some respect. There is no activity that you are doing that is more important than what other people are doing. Anytime you hit into other people’s time you are not doing anything else than showing that your time, you demands, and your wishes are more important. And, honestly, this is not the case.

Doctors charge cancellation fees if you don’t show up, being late at a business meeting may have fatal consequences, missing the appointment with your favorite writer may leave you with questions forever. So yes, always think of other people’s time as if it was your own. Valuable, limited, too fast…just like your own…

  1. I hate when people don’t respect my time. I’ve had people bail on me just as I’m heading out the door. It’s like don’t do that. I just spent a bunch of time getting ready and getting my dog situated and you cancel on my literally at the last second for a stupid reason!

  2. Great bag and boots. Funny enough, this is a topic I always talk about. One of the biggest things I look for in friendship is integrity. If you don’t keep your word when you make plans and come up with poor excuses to bail, that’s a huge disappointment and that persons time is not more important than mine or anyone elses. So integrity is one of the most important traits to me. Always hard to control when it’s an appointment though, and it can totally mess up your schedule when a doctor is late. 🙁
